Yes, another safari... but this time in Tanzania!

After our Kilimanjaro Climb, Greg and I went on a 3 day safari. Given the awesomeness of my recent safari experiences in Kenya, Tanzania had a lot to live up to and was already at a disadvantage because we were not going to the Serengeti. Our first day was spent at Lake Manyara National Park, day two was spent at Ngorongoro Crater, and day three was spent at Tarangire National Park. Relative to my Kenya experiences Lake Manyara was eh, Nogorongoro Crater was nice, and Tarangire was a bust. My recommendation is to go on safari in Kenya if you can or only go to the Serengeti and Nogorongoro Crater. Time of year has an impact as well, so be sure to research peak animal viewing months before going. Also, having a good guide is key. Ours was kind of quiet and I feel like we, Greg in particular, were spotting more animals than he was.

Anyways, we still had a nice time even though the animal viewing wasn't quite as good as we had hoped. We were able to see everything we hoped to except for a leopard (although some things were pretty far away). I've selected the best photos from the three days to share, but the lack of animals in two of the parks and the distance from the vehicle of many of them at all of the parks really impacted the number of photos we took and their quality. If you want to see some great safari photos, you should check out my Kenya posts.

The garden at our lodge, the Highview Hotel in Karatu was quite nice.
